Create an employee

The difference between external and internal employees, what to fill in immediately, and what only pays off once you start staffing shifts.

Last updated 8 August 2026

Staffly distinguishes between external employees — the ones you send out to customers — and internal ones, who work for you. They sit in separate places in the menu under Eksterne medarbejdere and Interne medarbejdere, and only external employees can be put on a customer order.

What you need straight away

  • Name, address, e-mail and phone number
  • Type of employment and start date
  • Salary details

The e-mail address matters more than it looks: without it the employee cannot log into the app or the employee portal, and the office has to register hours on their behalf.

What can wait, but pays off

Trades make the employee show up when you search for that particular skill. See Trades: find the right person fast.

Certificates let Staffly warn you before you send an employee to a job they are not allowed to do. See Certificates and expiry alerts.

A CV can be filled in automatically from an existing document. See CVs and AI extraction.

Internal employees

For internal employees you can choose whether time is registered manually or by clocking. The choice sits on the employee, because they are not on an order where it would otherwise live.
